If your skin is not super healthy during the lockdown, you’re doing it wrong. Staying at home for the most of the day – with exception of daily exercise and getting the essentials – opens a whole new world of opportunities to get your skin glowing like never before.

I’ve put together a series of tweaks for your skincare routines that will make it healthy and happy. First things first, let’s start with cleansers.

Applying a full face of make up can make you feel a little more put together, especially if your days are full of Zoom meetings, but let’s admit it … we all are wearing less make up and less layers of SPF these days. That’s why your skin will be grateful if you cleanse it with gentler cleansers and don’t strip it as much. I am opting for non-foaming cleaners that can all be used for all skin types with an exception of really oily ones.

Here are my current faves:

1 Aesop Gentle Cleansing Milk

OMG, this milk is out of this world! It leaves your skin silky soft and still effectively cleanses your skin. Use it on dry skin, gently massage it all over your face and wash it off. That’s the good thing about it – you don’t need a cloth to completely remove it.

It works amazing as a make-up remover if you use it on the cotton pad – it removes mascara. The milk was created with sensitive skin in mind so it won’t cause your eyes sting and won’t leave you with cloudy vision like some oils do. It’s on the pricier side but it’s totally worth it!

2 QMS Cosmetics Deep Gentle Cleanser

QMS Cosmetics is a brand I truly love. Their SPFs are the bomb! Their cleanser is creamy and comes with a pump. It’s gentle (despite containing a little bit of lactic acid) but efficient for removing impurities. It comes with a sponge but it doesn’t leave any residue even if you just wash it off with water. I wouldn’t use it around the eyes but it effectively removes facial make up. Love it!

3 Antipodes Grace Gentle Cream Cleanser

This thick cream cleanser is full of nourishing oils and antioxidants. I love to use it as a morning cleanse as it leaves your skin ridiculously soft and ready for all the goodies you feed it after cleansing. I find washing it off with water doesn’t remove it completely so I remove it with a muslin cloth (my fave are from REN – cheap and cheerful…no need to splurge loads on the cloths).

4 Lixirskin Electrogel Cleanser

Lixirskin is one of those brands that look very promising when looking into the range but provide meh results. I got this one in one of the beauty advent calendars. I have been using it for a couple of days but was never super impressed. Don’t get me wrong, it definitely cleanses your skin but compared with some other creamy cleansers on this list, doesn’t wow me. I still have it for traveling as it comes in a plastic tube and is a perfect size.

5 The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser

A cheap and cheerful cleanser in a squalane base. Creamy consistency in the tube turns into oil when massaged on your skin. It does clean great but it leaves a residue if not removed with a cloth. It’s really effective when removing make up. Another great candidate for your travel bag … when we can start traveling again!

6 Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser

This cleanser is not their best seller for no reason. Don’t get distracted by its focus on sensitive skin. It’s just a gentle cleanser with that Dermalogica smell. It washes off with water only so you don’t have to stress your skin with a muslin cloth. It’s like a hug for your skin! Love love love it. It’s on my “forever repurchase” list.

50ml £11.50 | 250ml £33 | 500ml £52.50
